After a few years off, we seem to have resumed our semi-annual pilgrimages to NOLA.
This time we stayed at a hotel with a river view and were surprised to see the Creole Queen docked right outside our window.

The first stop is always the French Quarter, and it often includes Royal House to get our chargrilled oyster fix.
No matter how many times we visit, we never know what fascinating events may surface in the Quarter as the day or evening progresses - from public art to celebratory parades.
During an after-dinner walk, we stumbled upon an old favorite: Lafitte's blacksmith shop, which is now a music venue with a lively sing-along piano bar. Our favorite piano player, Lucky Lee, was in the house. So, we stayed a while to sing and make a few requests.
We were out a bit later than planned, but why not when you roll into the French Quarter?!
