Two Disney Parks for Two Kids at Heart

Many adults who are Disney fans seem to head straight for Hollywood Studios or Epcot. We love those parks, but, as kids who watched the Wonderful World of Disney, we also appreciate the nostalgia that the Magic Kingdom evokes.

First, you have to get to the park. On this trip we were treated to a 30-year tenured bus driver who played classic Earth, Wind, and Fire, took us on the "construction ride" through a hotel parking lot, provided trivia points for guessing character names on the side of other buses, and conducted a countdown as you drove under the offical park entry. The ferry to the park entrance was lovely but less entertaining than the bus ride to the ferry.

It's hard to go wrong with old favorites like Pirates of the Caribbean, the Haunted Mansion, Peter Pan's Flight, and, of course, It's a Small World (complete with a photo bomber) and Cinderella's castle.

Then we had to ride the new thrill ride at the Magic Kingdom: Tron! We had waited long enough for a lightning lane to open up, and it was worth it.

Since it was close to Halloween, the costumes in the park were even better than usual. Check these out (ok, actually one is the "real" Buzz Lightyear. :)

One of our go-to activities at the Animal Kingdom is the Fesitval of the Lion King. We started with this to kick off our park adventure.

Then we headed to another favorite, the Everest ride, which has everything from a Yeti to a nearby bar that serves a great post-ride drink.

We also tried two new rides - one in Dino-Rama land plus the very cool Avatar experience where you ride a banshee.

Overall, these two kids at heart had a fabulous time.
