We have started to visit Mardi Gras World several times during previous visits to NOLA. For one reason or another it has not worked out - until now. Thanks to the conference that brought us to the city in the first place, we got a one-of-a-kind Mardi Gras World experience.
We were greeted by not only a festive band but a troupe of roving performers.
Then we were able to wander through the Float Den to see past, present and future art pieces that make the Mardi Gras parades such a worldwide draw.
The Mansion area of Mardi Gras World offered a quieter atmosphere to sample some local delicacies and take in the unique setting.
Then we sampled a couple of experiences that seemed just for conference-goers: the rockin' band and the glow-in-the-dark lounge swing situated right by the river.
As the band played its way out of the venue at the end of the evening, decided that we were glad to have waited for this behind the scenes Mardi Gras experience.
But it makes us want to go back for our third official Mardi Gras run sometime soon. Maybe next year?
